large modern crown molding

Why bother with installing molding in your home?

While the geometric quality of the walls and the ceiling has some sort of a natural definition, but the crown molding, trim and architectural details give the room a whole new look. You can easily choose to make some of the lines more noticeable by accentuating them with molding. Molding can also bring out shapes that are not easily noticeable within the architecture of the building, or that has not existed before.

Crown molding is the best and the least invasive way to dramatically alter your environment. Molding is something that is suitable for any sort of styled homes. Crown molding is also a great way to introduce different and new types of style into your overall design; you can add a dash of elegance and classic lines with elaborate and whimsical designs to a more modern room. Alternatively, add a simple molding to give clean lines just as an underscore to the room.

How do I know which crown molding is right for me?

You have to first think of the size of the molding that you will need. It really depends on your ceiling height because no one wants their room to look more cramped if the ceilings look lower. For ceilings that are already rather low, the molding has to be rather thin as not completely to take over the overall aesthetic of the design.

If the ceilings are high, then the molding has to be larger as not to get lost in the design and the size of the room. Once you have the average size squared away, then you are ready to move on to the next step. It is usually helpful to narrow your field of view of a few possible styles of molding that could suit your room. You can always go with the flow of your design or add a little something extra to spin it in a new direction. There are also numerous ways and colors that you could use to glaze it or color the molding before you install it.
