Zeppelins

Long before large passenger jets dominated the skies, zeppelins were a popular form of air travel from one continent to another. The German designed airships made regular transatlantic flights in the 1920s and 30s before the Hindenburg Disaster led to a steep decline and eventual end in this mode of travel.

Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin was the driving force behind the development of the original zeppelins and the airship eventually bore his name...read more about zeppelins >>

Or consider strategically placing a zeppelin or other model above a sofa and chairs so that it provides a conversation piece and helps to anchor the seating area.

For a child who dreams someday of piloting their own aircraft, what better gift than one of these handsome model planes? Suspended from the ceiling of their bedroom or perched in a place of honor on a shelf, it's sure to be one of their longtime treasured possessions.

So take your decor to new heights and let your spirits soar by incorporating model planes into your decorating scheme.

Into the Wild Blue Yonder with Model Planes

Humankind’s fascination with flying dates back to well before written history. Early humans, watching the birds flying high in the sky, no doubt wondered what it would be like if we could fly, free from the bonds of the earth. When flight became technologically possible, only the bravest dared to challenge gravity in a contraption made of wood, metal, glass and fabric—the era of the daredevils began.

The wonderful memories of your childhood can be relived without the effort and mess of assembling, gluing and painting plane models yourself. Our impressive collection of historically accurate plane models ranges from classic bi-planes, vintage fighters and early commercial planes. Faithfully reproduced models include Charles Lindbergh’s iconic Spirit of St. Louis, officially known as the Ryan NYP. The intricate details of the scale model pay homage to the original, which is suspended in perpetual flight at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. The model of this legendary aircraft sitting on your desk in the study is sure to inspire fantasies of flying around the world.

Biplanes became very popular in the early 20th century. Our biplane models include the Curtis JN-4, otherwise known as the Jenny. This little plane is not only famous for its use as the classic barnstormer, but also the subject of some extremely rare and valuable 1918 Unites States Postal Service stamps. Other biplane models include the Sopwith Camel, a larger-than-life British World War I fighter credited with shooting down more enemy aircraft than any other plane in the Allied forces during that war. The age of the biplane is past, but these amazing airplanes continue to be popular among aerobatics pilots, thrilling fans at air shows all over the world. But, you can still own a symbol of the bravery of those daring pilots with our colorful and detailed biplane models. Group several small ones in different colors together on a credenza or bookcase or suspend one of the larger models in a corner of the media room for a big dose of drama.

Other handcrafted models include scale replicas of the illustrious Fokker Dr.I, flown by none other than Manfred von Richthofen, the famed Red Baron; the Boeing 314 Dixie Clipper Model Plane, PanAm’s first transatlantic luxury passenger aircraft; and a limited edition replica of the Junkers JU52 Plane. Also called Iron Annie, this model is crafted in lightweight metal especially for collectors of authentic reproductions.

Beautifully reproduced and painstakingly detailed, each of our plane models are crafted with realistic finishes and cockpits, ready for display. Suspend them in a corner of your family room, recreation room or home office. Some of our models come with their own desk stands. No matter what era of aviation you identify with, each one of our replica plane models is sure to let your imagination take flight!
