Vertical Storm Bar Installation

1. At the top and bottom of the window opening, mark the center line of the opening.
2. With one of the shutters in the closed position, place the Storm Bar Bracket 1/8" behind the shutter. Be sure the Storm Bar Bracket is centered in the window opening.
3. Using the Storm Bar Bracket as a guide, drill holes to receive the threaded inserts. See anchor specifications on previous page for proper drill size.
4. Install the threaded inserts into the holes previously drilled.
5. Position the Storm Bar Bracket over the Threaded Inserts and fasten into place with the 1/4-20 x 1" Pan Head Screws.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for the top of the window opening.
7. Measure the distance between the two Storm Bar Brackets. Subtract 1/8" off this dimension and cut the Male and Female Storm Bars to the new dimension.
8. Place the Male Storm Bar between the top and bottom Storm Bar Brackets. Using the hole in the Storm Bar Bracket as a guide, drill through the Male Storm Bar using an 11/32" drill bit. Pin the Male Storm Bar in place using one of the 5/16" Faspins.
9. Repeat for the top of the window.
10. With the Male Storm Bar pinned in place, close the shutters.

11. Insert the leg of the Male Storm Bar into the Female Storm Bar. Using an 11/32" drill bit, drill (3) holes through both bars. Locate the holes 2" from the top and bottom, and centered in the bar.

12. Pin the Female Storm Bar to the Male Storm Bar using (3) 5/16" Faspins.

VERTICAL STORM BAR REMOVAL

1. Remove the (3) Faspins holding the Female Storm Bar to the Male Storm Bar and remove the bar.

2. Open the shutters and remove the Faspins holding the Male Storm Bar to the Storm Bar Brackets.

3. Remove the Storm Bar Brackets from the header and sill by removing the (4) screws holding each bracket in place.*

4. To prevent the thread inserts from becoming filled with debris, replace the screws. This also prevents the screws from being lost when the Vertical Storm Bar is not in use.

*The Storm Bar Brackets can be left in place.
