Wood Rosettes as Perfect Finishing Touches
Remember the old adage that “good things come in small packages?” Well, this certainly applies to wood rosettes in their value in adding decorating impact relative to their actual size.
Small in stature but mighty in the way that they can provide enhancement to their environment, carved wood rosettes are likely one of the most highly versatile of all architectural embellishments. It’s likely that you’ve seen these intricate rosettes at the upper corners of door or window casings, but to confine these decorative gems just to this single use would be a crime. There’s a place for wood rosettes in almost every room in your home; in fact, rosettes are often the perfect finishing touch for which you have been searching.
Kitchens are one of the rooms with a multitude of places that rosettes can be put to good use. From adding dimension and detail to plain cabinet fronts to adorning the backs of wooden chairs, rosettes provide a point of interest and a finishing element. The addition of wood rosettes can transform plain, ordinary woodwork and furniture into a finished piece that looks to be hand-crafted especially for your home.
Rosettes play two roles when applied to molding they add a decorative touch, and they cover up miter joints that can be unsightly. You can use wood rosettes on crown molding, window casings, pediments, corners, and door trim. If you are going for a subtle decorative look, you’ll probably choose to paint or stain the rosettes in the same color as the rest of the trim. However, if you want to call attention to the intricate beauty of the rosettes, paint them in a contrasting color so that they stand out and act as a focal point.
You’ll find that rosettes truly shine when applied to a piece of furniture that needs a little something extra to truly stand out. With the many options in inexpensive furniture, it’s tempting to buy pieces from home improvement or do-it-yourself stores in order to save money. But once you get these pieces home, they often don’t provide the look you were hoping for. Not to worry; a few inexpensive rosettes can quickly turn a ho-hum piece of furniture into an article that truly makes the room come alive.
With a huge variety of shapes, sizes, wood types, and styles, wood rosettes that are hand-carved from premium hardwoods provide the finishing touch for any trim, cabinetry, or piece of furniture. The wood rosettes are available in maple, oak and cherry to match your existing cabinets and furniture.

we have used wood rosettes all over our kitchen – especially in the corners of the cabinets and just below the crown. Since we have cherry cabinets we used the cherry hardwood rosettes and clear coated them with polyurethane to match the existing cabinet finish.

Yes, I agree with this. Rosettes are really great. We have added them to the corners of all of the walkways. We have also added some to our staircase to embellish it. It turned out great.

James–you’re so right.. all the little wood carving and rosettes are really what makes a kitchen unique. Without these little touches, it’s just a kitchen. Rather with the rosettes and wood carving, it can make a kitchen much more personalized and unique. You find 2 kitchens the same if you choose all the wood carvings yourself–just sayin’
