Lighting
Points of View on Lighting Fixtures

There are two opposite point of views on the role of lighting fixtures in home design exists. The first point is tightly connected with prioritizing a functional element in design and architecture. Followers of this point of view are sure that lighting fixtures have to be purely practical, barely visible, and not decorative. They believe that light is beautiful by itself and it is just the matter of precise placement of lighting fixtures with regards to layout and function of the space.
The second point of view is absolutely opposite. Disciples of the second point of view agree that light is beautiful by its nature, but this doesn’t mean that you can’t add to it’s magical glow. Moreover, there are thousands of ways to enhance lighting, known by artisans and designers.
If you share the second point of view our extensive collection of lighting fixtures will definitely grab your attention. The past few years have proved to be a designers and decorators dream as lighting fixtures have become more decorative. From nostalgic reproductions to architecturally inspired designs, there are models of lighting fixtures to suit any look in the form of table and floor lamps, wall sconces, chandeliers, ceiling lighting fixtures, fixtures for indirect lighting, and novelty type. We offer a wide selection of lighting fixtures to catch everyone’s imagination. To create a sophisticated look you should combine more than one type of lighting fixtures. Avoid matched pairs of lighting fixtures, such as identical table lamps at either side of the sofa. Try to coordinate your lighting fixtures, not match them. For more interest select your lighting fixtures in different, but coordinated finishes. For example, table lamps in antique brass finish can be complimented in the same room with chandelier or wall sconces finished in antiqued gold leaf.
Moving far beyond the purely practical, by using our lighting fixtures imaginatively you can create dynamic visual statements, enhance mood and atmosphere, alter color and emphasize texture. When balanced with shadow, lighting adds subtlety and excitement, tranquility and mystery.

I absolutely love decorating with lighting. I think it is the best way to introduce different type of mood into the space. I love highlighting certain elements- like having pictures hung all along the wall and the lights highlighting each one of them. I love the different effects each different type of light can bring… It is by far the most favorite part of the decorating process.
- Camilla, August 23rd, 2008 at 11:30 am
I think the most perfect fixture to capture the natural beauty and the natural essence of light. With the hurricane lamps, it is almost like someone captured the light in a glass case… there could be nothing better than that. I have them all over my house… it creates the perfect atmosphere.
- Katie, August 25th, 2008 at 11:27 am
I actually just got an amazing chandelier. It completely changed my whole room! It brightened not only because of all the crystals that reflected the light in the most beautiful way, but also just how the presence of such a large focal point really opens up the place.
- Riley, August 27th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
I love all the lighting on your website. I purchased 2 wall sconces and 2 table lamps from y’all and just love them. They are great quality, and give a great glow to both the rooms. I gives a very elegent apeal to any room. Thanks Again!
- Gertrude, August 27th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
I love the sleek and slender lines in lighting fixtures. I think that their main purpose is to light… any architectural aspect that the light has should not take away from the overall look of the room. As beautiful as chandeliers are, I see them as sculptures that belong in a museum and not my home.
- Fred, August 28th, 2008 at 11:18 am
I was just browsing online for a new lamp that is not like anything I can normally find in a store, and I came across this site. They are so incredibly beautiful. If I had room in my house, I would buy at least one of almost everything!
- Jenny, August 28th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
I am fighting with my husband all of the time. If I would ever give up all we would ever have in our home is recessed lighting. Don’t take me wrong, I have nothing against recessed lighting, but in moderation. You use recessed lighting because it is functional and provides great illumination, but how about character? It doesn’t have any! I think there is nothing wrong with having lighting that still adds a character to the space. If all lighting would be only functional, it would be a very sad and boring thing. You walk into the house-its nice and light- good, but what can you tell about the owner? Are they fun people? are they travelers? are they conservative? I think lighting is more about expression than function. Even contemporary lighting can be decorative as well as functional. You can really use lighting to express yourself in your home. So I think my battle with my husband will never end. I am very happy that I come out victorious most of the time ^_^. I hope that there is more people that think like me than people that think like my husband.
- Julanne, August 29th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
I totally agree, my husband never wants to spend the extra money on lamps and whatnot. I don’t care what he says, I need to have them because they are so beautiful..
- Gertrude, September 3rd, 2008 at 5:18 pm
I just discovered the palm tree lamp. I love it! It will go perfectly with my carribbean island themed room. Excellent options of lighting fixtures!
- Liz, September 4th, 2008 at 11:07 am
If you like the lamp, you should most definitely think about using some of those decorative knobs. I think they could bring any theme together!
- Linda, September 5th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Matching the antique gold with antique brass is a
powerful combination–but addding a third variable, copper, adds another whole dimension and look!
- perry degener, September 7th, 2008 at 4:51 am
I never even thought of mixing different metals or different metal finishes. I always thought that it was taboo… an interesting idea though!
- Fiona, September 7th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
The seashell wall sconces match my bathroom perfectly, and cast such a wonderful luminous glow (perfect for while soaking in the tub!). I love them!
- Katie, September 9th, 2008 at 11:26 am
Lighting is so important to me. I like to read a lot, while my husband watches espn. We just got a new tv that he tends to watch in the dark, just to enhance it more I guess. But anyway, I love the lamps that we just bought for our new living room. They are absolutely gorgeous. They add a touch of elegance and they are truly fantastic.
- Renee, September 15th, 2008 at 10:20 am
I think lighting is truly important. That faint little glow or that indirect lighting makes a difference. I like to create a lovely ambiance in my home. It’s just so nice and it can be romantic too
- Lois, September 24th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
I completely agree with Lois. I love indirect lighting. I hate it when lights are right in my face. A nice glow is so much nicer.
- Loretta, September 29th, 2008 at 9:46 am
I bought one of the chandeliers for my house and every person who comes to visit comments on how it is such a nice accent to our foyer. They can’t believe that they are handcrafted in Italy. It adds a wonderful quality to our home.
- James, September 29th, 2008 at 10:05 am
I love the sconces that are available. They are so nicely made, I can;t believe they’re handcrafted in Italy! Sconce lighting is a lot better (at least in my opinion) than regular old boring overhead lighting.
- Jamie, October 3rd, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Yeah Jamie, I agree. I love the look of the light from sconces. Its very indirect and gives such a soothing light. I bought 2 sconces from InvitingHome for my wifes birthday and they are great. She was so suprised that I had such good taste lol
- Conner, October 16th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
I just ordered some lamps for my desk at work… I love them and can’t wait to get them! They will make my office look so sophisticated!
- Lisa, October 31st, 2008 at 3:48 pm
I am an interior designer and I absolutely love lighting. Whether it be natural light from wonderfully large windows, or the glow from sconces and lamps around the room. I think the lighting really adds a certain character and mood to the room, which can be perfectly achieved easily by just seeing what kind of feel you want your room to have. I personally love the light, so I have a lot of lighting fixtures around the room, as well as lots of windows for the daytime. It is really something to think about when trying to redo or spruce up the home.
- Aryka, November 4th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Nice site, thanks for information!
- YahooBot, November 11th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
I have this thing for lamps. It’s weird. I just love looking at all of the interesting and unique lamps that are out there and I will sometimes buy them as gifts. Now I have come across your website and it is great! SO many unique lamps! I love it!
- Kacy, November 12th, 2008 at 11:11 am
I am a lamp lover as well, although probably not as much as Kacy. lol. Lamps really do add a really nice touch to the room – and so do sconces, chandeliers – well.. all lighting I guess! It’s like adding the cherry on top of an awesome banana split.
- Unique, November 13th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Wow unique, I’m not sure if I should say it’s a unique name or not. Sorry. Bad Joke. lol. But seriously. I too love lamps. I like adding a glow to the room without the harsh overhead lighting. It makes the room so cosy.
- Cheryl, November 17th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
I think I am one of those people in the second group. I love natural light, but I also love a soft glow of a nice lamp. I’m a reader, so i like to curl up in my big comfy chair and read by a really nice floor lamp that I actually purchased from this website.
- Karen, November 20th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
I really like the lamps that are available on this website. I just bought a couple for my office and they’re working out great.
- John, November 21st, 2008 at 5:36 pm
I can’t believe all of these lighting fixtures are handcrafted. They’re so ornate and beautiful. It makes me appreciate them even more knowing how much work has gone into them.
- Gary, November 26th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Yeah, I got one of the desk lamps for my office too. I am so glad that I got it. It really helps out in the office, and it’s such a nice lamp that it adds to my decor as well. My colleagues are jealous and I refuse to tell them where I got it (I can’t have them copying me!)
- Jon, December 4th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
I absolutely love the lamps available on this website. They are so beautiful. I can’t believe they’re handcrafted either! It makes them that much more special.
- Kathy, December 9th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
I just bought the most fantastic chandelier I think I have ever seen. Christmas dinner this year is really going to be magical. I can’t wait to see the looks on the faces of my wife’s family. Impressing them is as easy as making a snowman in July in the Sahara desert, but we’ll see how it goes…
- David, December 15th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
LOL. David, that is awesome. I know that my in-laws are a pain in the butt too. But at the same time, you can’t help but love them and get a kick out of them. Well, kind of. Depends on the family I guess. We bought a chandelier last year and it really makes the dining room. I’m glad we decided to get one.
- Michael, December 17th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Michael, you are a hoot! You just need to be careful though, what if your in-laws look at this blogggg hahaha.. that would be funny.. Anyways, I just needed to add that I just received my chandelier, and its going to be installed today!!! im so excited, it is going to be beautiful!
- Monica, December 23rd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
I’m a contractor and the couple who I am working for ordered a candelier from this place. I have to say I was really impressed. It was beautiful and it came pretty quickly. Good choice.
- Bob, December 23rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Monica – I can see your point. However, I’m pretty sure my in-laws don’t even know how to use the internet, much less a computer. They’re a little inept when it comes to electronics. Besides, there is no way that they would even know that I am writing this. Not unless you tell them!
- Michael, December 24th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Lighting is pretty important, no matter where you are. Whether it be the office, or the home. And there’s nothing to set the mood in a room like lighting. I have recently bought one of the desk lamps for my office at work.. now I may need to get one for the office at home, that is how much I like it. It casts a great light and uses less energy than the overhead light. It’s great.
- John, December 30th, 2008 at 11:07 am
I am a huge fan of lamps. Overhead lighting can be so boring. But a lamp or a sconce could be a decorative piece of artwork! It can really be that final touch to a room.
- Pamela, January 2nd, 2009 at 4:24 pm
I have been spending a lot of time online looking at lighting for a school project that I have been working on. I love looking at different types of lighting that is available because it seems that there is always something for everyone. I also have been having to look at other home products like decorative hardware and other things to find unique items for one of my projects.
Home lighting and other home products are very easy to find, but you want to make sure in these times that you get a good price and a good product. Saving money on something is not a great deal if it doesn’t last that long. In my online searching I found Inviting Home that has some great home products and good prices on these products. I love the lamps they have, but because of the holiday season I have also been drawn to the candle sticks and other candle lamps. Nothing says the holidays like candles to me.
Another form of lighting that I love and that this website shows very well is the indirect lighting under crown molding. If your looking to make a statement in your home, you should really check out the pictures they provide on this site. It’s amazing how you can take a simple space and make it so dramatic with some simple lighting. The best part is that most of this type of lighting uses LED lights so they hardly use any power at all. In fact my home has LED lights for night lights and when we lost power they still worked! How is that for energy efficiency?

Has anyone of you guys thought about changing the interior design of your home and make it look more exciting and fresh in the eye? I love interior design, as a matter of fact I designed our own apartment and every time we have visitors I always get nice compliments from them. It’s always overwhelming when someone will appreciate your work. Next year I wanted to change the atmosphere in our living room and I need nice furniture, curtains and some home lighting to make my room look bright like professionally done. InvitingHome.com will be my partner in making my room looks new. They have enormous beautiful products like; architectural, wood cravings, decorative hardware, lighting and furnishing that can beautify ones home. Not only that they will also aid their clients by giving information from their professional designers before making any purchasing decision. What I love about their website is that they’re posting their clients success in decoration thru some pictures which I think it’s so inspiring. I really enjoyed browsing their website and reading at their interior decorating tips.
- Jerla, January 9th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Yes, this website is great. They have almost everything that you could be looking for while remodeling a space. I especially was taken back by the lamps that are available. The crystal lamps were pretty impressive, as were the sconces. There are a lot of nice products featured here.
- Greg, January 14th, 2009 at 11:59 am
I have been searching and searching for the right lamp for our living room. I feel in love with the crystal lamps immediately. They are so elegant and so lovely, I can’t resist them. I am so pleased to have finally found a lamp that is precisely what I have been looking for.
- Susie, January 20th, 2009 at 11:29 am
Oh I know! The crystal lamps are absolutely beautiful. I bet they will add a certain touch of eligance and style to any room they are added to. I should probably look into them myself. Live life to the fullest and decorate the rest! That’s what I like to say!
- Paula, January 21st, 2009 at 1:26 pm
A room can look dull and can be simply a black hole without home lighting fixtures. For obvious reasons that Home lighting is what allows you and your guests to be able to see the beauty of your room.
These home lighting fixtures improve a person’s living and harmonize a sense of fashion. Take the indoor lighting fixtures for instance. With the correct choice of lighting.. a great combination of quality, modernism, and ornamental aspects along with permanence
- Den, February 6th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
I love nature and therefore I love natural light. I guess you could say I would be considered someone who would be in the second catagory.. since I also love to use lighting for decorating. Because using lighting really CAN be used as a decoration. Look at indirect lighting for example. Indirect lighting can cast a beautiful glow without creating an ugly glare. And I love the lamp that is featured for the article. Flowers! And it is so beautifully crafted! I am very impressed with this website.
- Lily, February 13th, 2009 at 10:56 am
i like this lamp i like a lot of the lamps on this web site i think they would look nice in my moms house i think i will buy it for her birthday
- John, March 5th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
Lighting a room seems easy, but it isn’t. Especially if you want to set moods with lighting, or if you want to decorate with lighting. I think lighting is so important, and finding the perfect lamp to compliment a room can be a daunting task. Luckily there are so many choices out there! I found some of my favorites from this very website and I couldn’t be more pleased with my selection.
- Suzanne, March 11th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Hello, I was glancing through your wall sconces, and I absolutley love the palm leaf sconce! In a month or so my husband and I would like to replace our other sconces for something a little more elegant and I think we just found the perfect one!
- Jennifer, April 20th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
I live near the beach on the east coast, and we are getting ready for the summer months. Our whole house is decorated with that beachy theme. I was happy to find your sea shell wall sconces and just thought I’d share with everyone that they look even better when fully installed, we painted ours that peachy color to look more realistic and they are absolutely gorgeous. I’ve also been browsing some more since these look so nice, and discovered your shell carvings and door knockers. I’m glad you offer so many “shore like” products!
- Keira, May 14th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I love lamp
- Brick Tamland, September 29th, 2010 at 3:38 pm
I think the lighting fixtures on your website are exquisite! I love the delicacy of some of them. They are absolutely gorgeous, and I am always excited to see when new items come out. I have added a few table lamps to my collection, as well as a gorgeous chandelier, and I could not be happier with the quality and craftsmanship, not to mention the beauty!
- Jane Meyers, November 16th, 2010 at 11:46 am
I read this article and thought “this is me and my husband!” We have completely different points of view on lighting (and most things around the house)! He’s the more practical, straight and narrow kins of thinker and I’m more of the soft touches, mood lighting, creative thinker. Luckily we have learned to compromise after 16 years of marriage!
