Decorating with Crystal Lamps
The sparkle of crystal glittering in the light brings a sense of romance and opulence to any room. Rainbows of color splash onto surfaces when light hits lead crystal, similar to how it affects a perfectly cut diamond. Decorating with crystal isn’t difficult – and it isn’t limited to a group of little cut crystal animals or ornaments locked away in a glass case. Functional pieces of beautiful, twinkling crystal includes all manner of items – including lighting.
When most people think of crystal lighting, they think of large, ornate chandeliers dangling from the ceiling. Because of this, some might shy away from crystal as a mode of decor, simply because they believe the material is pretentious or outdated. Nothing could be further from the truth! Decorating with crystal lamps is stylish, contemporary and not stuffy at all – as a matter of fact, crystal lamps can be fun!
Crystal lamps are available in a wide selection of styles – traditional, contemporary or modern – to fit any decor. Some lamps are delicately accented with a touch of crystal; others are made almost entirely of glimmering crystal.
The introduction of lead oxide into glass to make crystal appears to date back well before 1400 BCE, which is the age of the earliest known fragment discovered in Nippur, Mesopotamia. Since that time, humanity has sought to perfect the crystal making process. Today, decorative lead crystal is available in percentages ranging from 18% to 38%. The higher the percentage of lead in the crystal, the more refractive the light is when it comes through.
Let your personality shine through by adding a crystal table lamps to your favorite rooms. Place two of them on either side of a buffet table in your dining room. A couple of them on a fireplace mantel or a sofa table can really dress up your living room without being ostentatious. Bedrooms take on a romantic feeling when placing a sparkling lamp with crystal accents on a dresser or on bedside tables. I’ve even seen these shimmering lamps very tastefully displayed in a bathroom – simply beautiful!
Keeping your crystal lighting clean and bright is easy. Simply use a soft cotton cloth to remove any dust. Avoid the use of waxes, polishes, harsh cleansers or any cloths with a scrubbing surface to avoid scratching or dulling the surface of your crystal. With a little bit of maintenance, all of your crystal will continue to shine on for years!

I have been a big fan of InvitingHome.com for a few years now and I am excited to see the new collection of crystal lamps you now have available. I especially like those in the nickel finish – a lot of my clients have been going towards a more “silver” look than a brass/gold look. And I agree with the previous comments, the crystal lamps certainly add glamour and sophistication to any room.

Yes! I agree with Sandy. I am so much more of a “silver” person rather than a “gold” person. I am so excited to know there are nickel finishes available. I think the nickel adds a more modern touch, don’t you think?

I agree with Maria. I have more of a modern home, and the crystal table lamps fit perfectly in my home as well. I am happy to see crystal floor lamps on the website as well. I’ve been looking for something similar to these.
